History

Brockway's own account dates the company to 1964, designing and producing hand-finished carpets in Kidderminster — traditionally Britain's carpet-weaving town. (Companies House records an earlier incorporation date, 1935, for the same registered company; the 1964 date is the business's own account of when today's Brockway carpet-making began.)

It's a family-run business — many of today's employees are, by the company's own description, the sons and daughters of previous staff — with Charles Annable serving as Chairman.

What they make

Brockway makes wool carpets exclusively, using an environmentally-friendly production process that includes “Envirobac”, a polymer-granule carpet backing used in place of conventional latex.

Its Lakeland Herdwick range is made from the undyed wool of Herdwick sheep native to the Cumbrian Fells — grown in Cumbria, spun in Yorkshire and woven in Kidderminster.

Recognition

In May 2025, Brockway was granted the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Carpet Manufacturer to His Majesty King Charles III.

The company is a corporate sponsor of the Museum of Carpet in Kidderminster, the UK's only museum dedicated to carpet-making heritage, and is associated with the Campaign for Wool.
